Today I did something I wasn’t expecting to do at all! I went back to parkrun.
My 14-year-old is a keen parkrunner and he managed to drag me out of my lazy Saturday morning stupor to cycle down to Stretford parkrun.
Whilst it clearly feels great to have done it, I find the process of doing it particularly uncomfortable and really not something to motivate me to get out of bed.
I am passionate about helping runners but not hugely passionate about running itself.
I know that I should be running more regularly though, not just for my own health but also for the really obvious opportunity to be my own best free marketing!
Its a good job my son forced me to join in really because one of my actions from my half-day workshop with our business coach was to go to parkrun at least twice a month.
So look out for me again, wave as you speed past and one day I might be fast enough to beat my lad? Here’s hoping.
Oh and one more thing… Despite my only running being what I do at a regular football game and having to walk parts of the second lap due to my heart and lungs being incapable of supporting 5K in one go, my technique has obviously improved to the point where I managed a new personal best of 24:59.
